President Lynette's Message

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the New Rotary Year!!

We celebrated “Changeover” in style last Tuesday, with an American style “Thanksgiving dinner” as the date being 4th July, we gave a nod to America seeing it was their Independence Day, and there was even Pumpkin Pie for dessert.

Cheryl Rose gave a summary of the year past and handed the President chains onto myself and it was my pleasure to introduce the new Board members, Jenny Ensor and Emma Walton-Woodings, who together with Secretary Lionel Wilson & Treasurer Mike Parr, and Immediate Past President Cheryl Rose, will lead the club very ably and I look forward to working with them.

We enjoyed a lovely evening and Jenny Ensor even had us testing our collaborative brainpower with a quiz and lifting our chairs looking for a lucky spot.

It was a pleasure to welcome partners and guests, along with Alan Maitland, Assistant Governor, Peter Hughes, President of the Waimate Club, and Scott Ackroyd, President of Temuka/Geraldine Club.

Unfortunately, it was Ian Behrnes last evening as an active member of our club, after 41 years and we wished him and Shirley well as they negotiate the property market, buying and selling a house.

You will note the theme logos have all changed – as we “Create Hope in the World” which is the theme chosen for 2023-2024 year by Rotary International President, Gordon McInally.

Catch up again soon,

Lynette Wilson

Upcoming HDV Event

Save the date!
We have an upcoming HDV event with a slight difference! We will be operating the HDV along with a BBQ for the Aspect Trust Fundraising Tug of War event.

The event will be held at the Morgans Road Indoor Stadium, Saturday 26th August (during the evening) and we will be the food vendor where ticket holders can redeem their tickets for some snacks from us, as well as selling food if they are still hungry!

Details and times etc will be finalised closer to the time but I will be looking for both BBQ people and HDV workers for the event.  The roster has been updated on the website so you can add your name if you are free on the evening (by clicking here...).
Let me know if you have any issues getting into the roster.

Many Thanks
Jess

The New Editor

Please send me any photos, information about club or committee projects, anything Rotary that you want to share, or just anything that will give us all a laugh!

As my plate is pretty full and I work full time, I won't be getting the weekly bulletin out until the weekend.

So if you want anything added each week, please get it to me by Saturday afternoon at the latest, or just let me know something is on the way :)

Thanks
Jess
