After a two-week break, it was good to catch-up again, there was lots of chatter as so much has been happening.
Our speaker was Gary Rushworth, who shared his passion for pursuing the perfect brew. Gary, a Scientist, hails from an industrial Mill-town in “Bronte Country”, Yorkshire and has a family history of brewing beer, learning the craft from his father and grandfather, although his grandfather kept his recipes in a closely guarded notebook which Gary finally managed to get his hands on after his grandfather passed away, which, along with some of his “tools of the trade” he treasures and still uses today.
Gary currently brews 7 types of beer, with quite an array of light to darker, and enjoys sharing his hobby with friends.
We look forward to “sharing” with Gary on our social calendar coming up.
It was lovely to receive two letters of thanks and appreciation for wood deliveries from recent recipients, and on that note, Tony has asked that we enter 30th September in our calendars for a “kindling working bee” down at the shed. If you can assist, please notify Tony.
We have enjoyed the company of both Gary Rushworth and Marie Steele for several meetings already and look forward to getting to know them more as we welcome them as prospective new members of our club.
Scott Ackroyd, President of the Temuka/Geraldine Rotary club has invited us to participate in a “day of activities” on October 28th as they celebrate their 75th anniversary, this notification has been sent out to all members separate to this newsletter, if you wish to attend, please notify Lionel, I know some were keen for golf, I look forward to the High tea and tasting tour, should be fun.
Cheryl Rose is keen to share the co-ordination of “Santa Paws” again this year and is looking for an enthusiastic co-person to help with logistics – if this sounds like you, please contact Cheryl, or Greg Sugrue as chair of the Projects Committee. Possible date for this could be Sunday 10th December.
We also have our visit to the Gallery at Winchester followed by afternoon tea at Mia Flora on the 8th of October, Tony Henderson is also organizing a trip to the Theatre, and Christmas Dinner is tentatively booked for 5th December at Austin 92, Temuka, so the calendar is filling!!
See you all again 26th September.
Catch up again soon,
Lynette Wilson
President
