As last week was not a scheduled meeting night, I took the opportunity to slot in a “club night” meeting, and it was good to share ideas, what’s working, and moving forward. Always a generation of robust and valuable conversation, thanks to those who attended.
We had 10 members join the Timaru Suburban Lions club as volunteers/drivers/packers/collectors last Monday evening, along with many other community groups, in their annual “Toot for Tucker”. Together we achieved a great result, with a record number of boxes filled for the local Foodbank.
A busy weekend with a good number of members and friends in the Hot Dog Van in action at the CAMS Classic Motorcycle event at Levels Raceway this weekend, practice day on Friday was a little slow, but the rain held off mostly for the riders, albeit very windy. Saturday & Sunday will be busy.
We are in action again on the 1st Dec at the Night market at the Te Aitarakihi Marae, then again at the Rose Festival, Sunday 3rd December. If you can assist for a couple of hours, please let Jess Hewitson know, there are still a few gaps on the roster.
Thank you to those of you who have indicated availability for Marshalling or Health & Safety on Sunday 3rd Dec for the Santa Parade, if you haven’t already been contacted, but would like to volunteer your services in any way on the day, please let me know - it certainly will be appreciated as it will be a very busy day for club members.
The Santa Parade is a combined Community Voluntary event organized by the two Lions clubs and the two Rotary clubs in Timaru.
Xmas Dinner is booked for 5th December at Austins92, Temuka. Indications so far show a good number of us intending to be there, which is great.
