President-Elect Lynette's Message

Hi everyone,

We had the pleasure of welcoming Inspector Vicki Walker, Aoraki Area Police Commander, to our meeting this week.

Vicki has been in her role in South Canterbury for about 6 weeks and is enjoying connecting with our area again as she has fond memories of childhood holidays with her grandparents in Waimate. She outlined her intriguing journey to policing, which includes two degrees and a stint as a farmer and shared her humour, with us all agreeing the weight of her vest was more than any of us would wish to walk in, let alone run with if required. Her philosophy and approach to policing is one of connection and partnership, to ensure South and Mid Canterbury communities benefit with a safer environment.

This meeting was the last for our current Rotary year and I look forward to celebrating with those of you attending our “Thanksgiving dinner” Changeover next Tuesday.

Thank you to President Cheryl for leading our club for the past eighteen months, your dedication is really appreciated. We wish you well as you return from a well-earned break in the US.

To those of our members who are currently travelling overseas or locally (and there are quite a few of you), Stay warm and travel safe!

Lynette Wilson

President elect

Upcoming HDV Event

Save the date!
We have an upcoming HDV event with a slight difference! We will be operating the HDV along with a BBQ for the Aspect Trust Fundraising Tug of War event.

The event will be held at the Morgans Road Indoor Stadium, Saturday 26th August (during the evening) and we will be the food vendor where ticket holders can redeem their tickets for some snacks from us, as well as selling food if they are still hungry!

Details and times etc will be finalised closer to the time but I will be looking for both BBQ people and HDV workers for the event.  The roster has been updated on the website so you can add your name if you are free on the evening (by clicking here...).
Let me know if you have any issues getting into the roster.

Many Thanks
Jess
