President Bev's Message.

Greetings,

Our scheduled speaker, Mayor Nigel Bowen, canceled due to illness. We wish him a speedy recovery.

The Club members were given a theme, ‘Something embarrassing, funny or precious’. It is amazing how at an impromptu Club meeting, our members pull out all stops to tell their stories. We were inspired by DIY adventures, conspiracy theories of coronavirus and a story of something precious. When there is a warm, supportive environment and acknowledgment others become encouraged to share. The time slot was soon filled with plenty of laughter making for great camaraderie among us. Thank you and congratulations to those who shared. Following the meeting, 2 members offered to speak at short notice as they have speeches prepared for such occasions. Our Club is in great shape.

Once again, it was nice to share our meetings with our visitors; Adrienne Barton, Ashley Milliken, from Whanganui North Rotary Club Barry Bailey and Lee Johns.

Next week our meeting is likely to finish at a later time. We are fortunate that Jill Worrall and husband Derek will drive down on Tuesday.

Enjoy your weekend, Bev

Ashburton Rotary Visit

This is scheduled for Tuesday, 24 March and we will carpool as required.
Geoff Cantrell is the Programme Director for the Ashburton Club and is my contact.
They are very much looking forward to this annual get together.
We pay for the meal at the door as we enter. The drinks are paid for separately.

Could I please have the numbers into me by Friday 20th March.

These visits are an annual event and our Clubs take a turn at hosting every 2nd year. We chartered this Club hence the close relationship we have with the  Ashburton Club. There are 2 Rotary Clubs in Ashburton.

Bev.

Letters of Appreciation Received.

We have received letters of appreciation from 'Multiple Sclerosis' & 'Heartkids SC' for the $2500 we gave to each group being proceeds from the Nov. 2019 'Spring Garage Sale' - to view click here...

A Meal At Riverstone On Sunday 3rd May.

Further to my email sent out earlier this year about a Sunday lunch at Riverstone it is set to be held on Sunday 3rd May at 1:00 pm (thus giving time for those who wish to travel there earlier and have a look around the shops to do so).

Attached are the two menus the majority of members have indicated they would like View $40.00 menu... & $55.00 menu.

The castle tour (if available ) would be an extra $25 pp.

Someone from the Social Committee will be co-ordinating numbers (and meal preference) nearer to the time (as I will be away).

Cheers
 Peter
