President Bev's Message.

Greetings,

Our speaker canceled this week because she was unwell.

I am very appreciative of our Club members who put their hand up to help our Programme Team in these situations.
It is pleasing to have a library of members who can step up at short notice.

Keith Bartholomew presented a talk with a sketch of Timaru at the time of the arrival of the steamer “Strathallan” right up until the 1970s.
I was amazed to see how quickly Timaru grew from a beach area with the Rhodes’ cottage and another shelter in the 19th century. This rapid development kept going for a number of decades into the 20th century.
We are very lucky to have had citizens at that time who took the time to record this history for us. Keith, I think that you will be asked to present Part 2 of this photographic journey of Timaru!

Stay safe, be vigilant and show consideration in this uncertain time that we are faced with.

Have a good weekend.

Bev

Ashburton Rotary Visit

This is scheduled for Tuesday, 24 March and we will carpool as required.
Geoff Cantrell is the Programme Director for the Ashburton Club and is my contact.
They are very much looking forward to this annual get together.
We pay for the meal at the door as we enter. The drinks are paid for separately.

Could I please have the numbers into me by Friday 20th March.

These visits are an annual event and our Clubs take a turn at hosting every 2nd year. We chartered this Club hence the close relationship we have with the  Ashburton Club. There are 2 Rotary Clubs in Ashburton.

Waimate Relay For Life Team- Looking For Team Mates!

Waimate Rotary Club has a team entered in the South Canterbury Relay for Life being held in Waimate this Saturday 10 am-10 pm.
We have entered the very last minute so we are trying to get as many team members from Rotary in our area. DG Tania and Phil are coming from Balclutha to join in - yay! We are looking for others keen to join us - it’s is $15 to register and then you can walk as much or as little as you like..... or just be there for social time and cheerleaders for those walking. You don’t have to be there all day if that is too much. Waimate Club will sort the gazebo etc etc. If you would like to join us flick me your email address (to waimaterotarypresident@gmail.com or shazzacain18@icloud.com) and I will send the link for you to enter our team online. Cheers - Sharyn ☺️🤩

Latest Induction.

President Bev. last Tuesday night inducted our newest member Shirley Keenan.
Welcome, Shirley.

Hot Dog Caravans Annual Spring Clean.

Last Sunday morning Shaun, Keith, Paul, Stephen, Russell, Jess, Dick & Lance gave the Hot Dog Caravan its annual spring clean before this year's season of outings.

A Meal At Riverstone On Sunday 3rd May.

Further to my email sent out earlier this year about a Sunday lunch at Riverstone it is set to be held on Sunday 3rd May at 1:00 pm (thus giving time for those who wish to travel there earlier and have a look around the shops to do so).

Attached are the two menus the majority of members have indicated they would like View $40.00 menu... & $55.00 menu.

The castle tour (if available ) would be an extra $25 pp.

Someone from the Social Committee will be co-ordinating numbers (and meal preference) nearer to the time (as I will be away).

Cheers
 Peter
