President Jess's Message.

Wah Gwaan Everyone (hello everyone in Jamaican Patios) A little nod to Kamala Harris this week on her new role as VP.

We had a lovely evening on Tuesday at our first night back for the year. Cheryl’s house proved to be the perfect location for a BBQ despite the windy evening. Thank you to Cheryl, the BBQ chefs Tony and Mike and also the social/membership committee for organising the night.

We had more sad news this week in learning that Russell Dockrill passed away on Monday. Russell was a member for 20 years and is remembered fondly within the club.

We are back into the swing of things with our 1st meeting of the year at the Town and Country Club this coming Tuesday. Please ensure that you are apologising by Monday on the website if you are unable to make it (or you will be liable for the cost of the dinner)

Have a good weekend – fingered crossed for some 🌞
Jess

Welcome Back BBQ.

Last Tuesday evening was our first meeting for 2021 which was a BBQ at Cheryl Rose's home, the night was very gusty so although Mike & Tony (shown below) cooked the BBQ outside everyone else stayed inside.
There was a good attendance by members & partners making it a very enjoyable social night.

Russell Dockrill's Rotary Funeral Eulogy.

It is with sadness that I report that our honorary member Russell Dockrill passed away last Monday (18th January) - after battling with ill health for some time.

At Russell's funeral on Friday. 22nd January Paul Dewsbery gave a tribute on behalf of the club - click here to read....

Host Duties.

When doing Host Duties (i.e. Duty Roster), please remember that you set tables, raffles etc up for the night.
Then at the end of the meeting you need to pack up again and return table numbers etc. into the box and put away.
The large sign outside door must also be packed away (this part isn't always been done).
It then falls to those leaving last.

RAFFLE PRIZES

For this Rotary year, President Jess would like members to take turns at providing the raffle prize (no alcohol please), either by buying a prize to the value of $10 to $15 (keep the receipt and ask Treasurer Jenny for reimbursement using the claims form click here...) or maybe you have a suitable prize you'd like to donate.

To make it simple to keep track of whose turn it is, the person on Host Duty 2 will be asked to provide the raffle prize for the week.

When it's your turn to provide the prize:
  • Please put the prize on the Host table no later than 5:30 pm.
  • Make sure there's a raffle sheet (from the host bin) and a pen on the table.
  • If you are unable to attend Rotary, and you are unable to find someone to swap, please contact Robyn Baldwin so she can arrange cover for the night.

Information Required.

Remember this is "your" bulletin and so please email information to me on what your committee is doing (or planning) so everyone can be aware of it.
Lack of the above will mean the bulletin is not advising the members of what is happening in the club & particapation will be down.
Stephen
