 President Lynette's Message

Hi everyone,

Last Tuesday, a group of current, past, and honorary members, along with active “friends” of our club, enjoyed a trip to the Theatre and shared the hilarity of “Inspector Drake & the Perfekt Crime”. – a classic whodunnit.

Books For Babies.

It is so lovely to get feedback from parents of Newborn babies, thanking us for the donation of a little “Spot” (the dog) book.

Books for Babies” is a long-running project for our club, whereby a small Hard board picture book is given to the parents of every baby born in South Canterbury, via the Maternity ward at Timaru Hospital, and Midwives delivering Homebirths.

We are grateful and very appreciative of being able to utilise funding grants from the RJ & CF Moyes Trust to purchase the books for this valuable project.

The following excerpts were taken from the latest emails received this past week:-

Thank you very much for the spot book in our plunket pack, was lovely to get such a thoughtful gift and we appreciate the work you all do for our community. Little Libby Maeve was a leap year baby and looks forward to reading your book. She’s pretty special! We have been reading to her throughout pregnancy so loved having a new book to read.”

Just a quick note to thank you for the generous gift of a book for our newborn. We deeply appreciate the thought - and promise we will be reading to little Evelyn every day! “

Editors Humour

Want to hear something terrible?
Paper. See? I told you it was tear-able.

Last night, I dreamed I was swimming in an ocean of orange soda.
But it was just a Fanta sea.

An atom loses an electron… it says, “Man, I really gotta keep an ion them.”

A man sued an airline company after it lost his luggage.
Sadly, he lost his case.

Atoms are untrustworthy little critters.
They make up everything!
