President Peter's Message
Guest Speaker
Dr Muhammad Khalid gave us an evening to remember. His presentation about his work on cataracts here and the situation worldwide was interesting, funny and informative. I did notice however that during his video presentation of a cataract operation a few heads looked away. We learnt from Bruce in his introduction that Muhammad uses some of his annual leave to carry out voluntary eye surgery in Asia and Africa.
First visiting Timaru as a locum we are very fortunate to have him here in Timaru.
Paul Harris Fellowship Awards
The awards to Gilly and Russell Finlay were very warmly received by members who stood to applaud both recipients.
Congratulations to you both.
Richly deserved.
Humphris Engineering Ltd
Julie Burgess, Paul Dewsbery and I shouted morning tea to the owners and staff by way of thanks for their very generous donation
to our club. They were very interested to hear about some of our completed projects. I promised to keep in touch.

Support for ‘Cyclone Gita’ victims in Tonga
Following articles in The Timaru Herald recently Keith Bartholomew suggested we donate the partitions we no longer have a use for to the local Church who are arranging to send two 40 foot containers to Tonga filled with items that will assist those affected by the recent Cyclone Gita.
The directors approved of their disposal last year for a similar event that affected Fiji.
With very short notice sadly we literally missed the boat.
Not this time!
They have already been collected and delivered to the storage facility so mission accomplished.
Thanks to Bruce B, Russel F, Shaun A and Paul D.
