THANK YOU KING STREET MOTORS
Thanks to King Street Motors for carrying out a Warrant of Fitness inspection of the Hot Dog Caravan at no cost to the Club, and then carrying out some maintenance work, again at no cost to the Club. What great support of our efforts for the community.
Members might like to return the favour by supporting King Street Motors; you'll find them at 143 King Street.

President Jess's Message.
Hola a todas (Spanish)
This week we had a lovely letter from Carolyn Cooper at PSSC (see below) officially thanking us for the donation we made from the Moyes Trust 😊
Dave Jack was our guest speaker this week. He gave us all an insight into what Genealogists do and how they can help their clients, and also explained about the latest trend of testing DNA via such places as Ancestry.com with the autosomal DNA testing kits you can do in your home.
Members are reminded to put in an apology for the meeting by noon on Monday (otherwise they are liable to be charged) - click on the following link to apologise:-

When doing Host Duties (i.e. Duty Roster), please remember that you set tables, raffles etc up for the night.
Then at the end of the meeting you need to pack up again and return table numbers etc. into the box and put away.
The large sign outside door must also be packed away (this part isn't always been done).
It then falls to those leaving last.
RAFFLE PRIZES
For this Rotary year, President Jess would like members to take turns at providing the raffle prize (no alcohol please), either by buying a prize to the value of $10 to $15 (keep the receipt and ask Treasurer Jenny for reimbursement using the claims form click here...) or maybe you have a suitable prize you'd like to donate.
To make it simple to keep track of whose turn it is, the person on Host Duty 2 will be asked to provide the raffle prize for the week.
When it's your turn to provide the prize:
Please put the prize on the Host table no later than 5:30 pm.
Make sure there's a raffle sheet (from the host bin) and a pen on the table.
If you are unable to attend Rotary, and you are unable to find someone to swap, please contact Robyn Baldwin so she can arrange cover for the night.

Last Saturday morning from 9 - 12 we had a very successful kindling chopping working bee attended by 15 people where we managed to fill 57 boxes as well as enjoying our normal lovely morning tea of hot savouries & muffins.
Above photographs show some of those in attendance & the chop, chop chopping tools used.
A BIG thank you to everyone who helped - a good time was had by all.
Letter of Appreciation From PSSC.

Social/Membership Committee Report – September
We haven’t achieved a lot since the last meeting. If Trivia night is our responsibility, we’re on track for that. Have been in discussion with Altrusa. They are providing the significant prizes for first and second (trays of shortbread). We have to provide the prizes for third and novelty awards such as most creative or stupid answer etc.
Was going to have a team meeting to pull a few things together last Sunday until I discovered it was father’s day. Looking to have a meeting this Sunday and make some progress.
Corporate membership is stuck waiting for a catchy vision, mission and identity, work in progress.
Regards
Cheryl

Helping Hands:

Still currently working on developing a budget and Health & Safety Plan, including Risk Assessment Management (RAM). A kindling working bee was held Saturday 5th Sept.
This year, COVID has made planning and running the annual Polio Movie Event much more challenging than usual! There will be issues in some locations but, with appropriate measures, such as masks, sanitiser and sensible seating arrangements, it is possible for events to go ahead in most areas.
This year’s movie is I Am Woman. It’s the story of Australian singer/songwriter, Helen Reddy, who shot to global stardom in the seventies. While set in the US, the movie is a local production. Tilda Cobham-Hervey is sensational in the lead role.
Remember this is "your" bulletin and so please email information to me on what your committee is doing (or planning) so everyone can be aware of it.
Lack of the above will mean the bulletin is not advising the members of what is happening in the club & particapation will be down.

Editors Humour.
Three sisters ages 92, 94 and 96 live in a house together.
One night the 96-year-old draws a bath... She puts her foot in and pauses... She yells to the other sisters, "Was I getting in or out of the bath?"
The 94-year old yells back, "I don't know. I'll come up and see." She starts up the stairs and pauses "Was I going up the stairs or down?"
The 92-year-old is sitting at the kitchen table having tea listening to her sisters. She shakes her head and says, "I sure hope I never get that forgetful," she knocked on wood. She then yells, "I'll come up and help both of you as soon as I see who is at the door."
