Thought for the week
We all have our time machines. Some take us back, they're called memories. Some take us forward, they're called dreams. - Jeremy Irons
THANK YOU KING STREET MOTORS
Thanks to King Street Motors for carrying out a Warrant of Fitness inspection of the Hot Dog Caravan at no cost to the Club, and then carrying out some maintenance work, again at no cost to the Club. What great support of our efforts for the community.

President Bev's Message.
Greetings,
Tony gave us a small and very interesting insight into the Israel of today. Being so small, half the size of Canterbury and supporting a population of 8.7 million, it is not surprising that their management systems and practices have put them into the top rung of the food producers of the world. 'They grow just about everything,' said Tony. The Israelis invented the pivot irrigation system which is widely used in our agricultural sector. The Israeli hinterland relies on being irrigated, whereas the coastal strip on the Mediterranean Sea has the benefit of the moisture from the ocean currents to support irrigation.
The Sea of Galilee is about the same size as Lake Tekapo. The supply of fresh water is becoming a serious problem for the economy, it will be interesting to see how they address this issue.
Tony felt completely at ease whilst travelling anywhere in Israel, however the residents have constraints placed upon them. He touched on the fascination of the historical sites of this land, which could be another presentation.
Next week Dave and Kim recount their Camino Walk. Another interesting corner of the world.
Enjoy your weekend.
Bev.

Duty Roster Attendance.
It is important (as noted under the "Duty Roster" on the left) that if your name is listed that you organise for someone to do your duty on the night (if you are not attending on the night or you are to be late) as often it is falling to members who are there early in the evening to do the duties (otherwise they are being done later on before the meeting - when those on duty have not appeared). By clicking here it is possible to see the "full" list showing when you are due to be on well in advance to give you plenty of time to organise (swap) with someone. Click here to see your 'host duty tasks' on the night (if you are unsure).

At the last meeting held at Peter Russell's on Sunday 6th organizing is well underway, with proceeds going to local charities 'Heart Kids SC' & 'Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society' (it was felt Timaru folk may not relate as well to Polio International (which was first mentioned as one of the charities) so choosing charities that keep their money local made sense. Also, advertising is being looked into, with the next meeting being held at Peter's on Sunday 20th October at 4.
Members will be being called on to assist closer to the event. If you are interested in assisting earlier please let Shaun know.
