President Cheryl's Message

Hi everyone

Thank you so much to the team from 'Te Aitarakihi Multicultural Centre' who spoke to us last Tuesday. A special thank you for explaining some of your culture we didn’t know about. Always great to learn a little more in that regard. We look forward to future joint events with our two groups. This week, Phil MacKay will be speaking. Here’s hoping there are no more natural disasters that keep him away again.

A big thank you to those who returned to our “great tree plant” to put stakes in where needed. I’m waiting with anticipation for the trees to grow.

I trust you have kept warm this last week. Here’s hoping that was the last gasp of winter.

Yours aye
Cheryl

WELCOME, Coralie.

Apple Jelly & Apple Toffee

There are still a lot of jars of Apple Jelly and Apple Toffee available.
All you have to do is email (by clicking here..) or call me (027 540 3141) and I will bring some into our meeting for you.
So far we’ve raised $100 from their sale. And if you’ve emptied the jar, then that’s a definite reason to get another.

Regards
Cheryl

Editors Humour.

Kates's husband bought an exercise machine to help him shed a few pounds. He set it up in the basement but didn't use it much, so he moved it to the bedroom. It gathered dust there, too, so he put it in the living room. Weeks later she asked how it was going.
"I was right," he said. "I do get more exercise now. Every time I close the drapes, I have to walk around the machine."
________

Although Jo knew she had put on a few pounds, she didn't consider herself overweight until the day she decided to clean the refrigerator. she sat on a chair in front of the appliance and reached in to wipe the back wall. While she was in this position, her teenage son came into the kitchen. "Hi, Mom," he said. "Whatcha doin', having lunch?" Jo started her diet that day.
________

Mark's wife and her friend Karen were talking about their labour-saving devices as they pulled into our driveway. Karen said, "I love my new garage door opener." "I love mine too," Mark's wife replied, and honked the horn three times. That was the signal for me to come out and open the garage.

Mary's sister decided to go on a diet, and that first evening she phoned her. Mary could tell her mouth was full, so asked her what she was eating.
"A cupcake," she mumbled. "I just got on the scale, and it read 85.7 Kg's. I decided that was no place to start a diet, so I'm rounding it off to 86."
