President Jess's Message.

Buna Tuturor (hello everyone)

Romanian this week  - a Southern Romanian town re-elected their Mayor who passed away from COVID but his name couldn’t be removed from the ballot in time – the townsfolk still voted him into office! Must say something about the other candidates!?

1st day back in the Hot Dog & Chip Van last weekend and what a good day it was! We had lots of nice comments from the public that they had missed us during level 2!

Host Duties.

When doing Host Duties (i.e. Duty Roster), please remember that you set tables, raffles etc up for the night.
Then at the end of the meeting you need to pack up again and return table numbers etc. into the box and put away.
The large sign outside door must also be packed away (this part isn't always been done).
It then falls to those leaving last.

RAFFLE PRIZES

For this Rotary year, President Jess would like members to take turns at providing the raffle prize (no alcohol please), either by buying a prize to the value of $10 to $15 (keep the receipt and ask Treasurer Jenny for reimbursement using the claims form click here...) or maybe you have a suitable prize you'd like to donate.

To make it simple to keep track of whose turn it is, the person on Host Duty 2 will be asked to provide the raffle prize for the week.

When it's your turn to provide the prize:
  • Please put the prize on the Host table no later than 5:30 pm.
  • Make sure there's a raffle sheet (from the host bin) and a pen on the table.
  • If you are unable to attend Rotary, and you are unable to find someone to swap, please contact Robyn Baldwin so she can arrange cover for the night.

Information Required.

Remember this is "your" bulletin and so please email information to me on what your committee is doing (or planning) so everyone can be aware of it.
Lack of the above will mean the bulletin is not advising the members of what is happening in the club & particapation will be down.

Possible Polio Fundraiser.

This year, COVID has made planning and running the annual Polio Movie Event much more challenging than usual! There will be issues in some locations but, with appropriate measures, such as masks, sanitiser and sensible seating arrangements, it is possible for events to go ahead in most areas.

This year’s movie is I Am Woman. It’s the story of Australian singer/songwriter, Helen Reddy, who shot to global stardom in the seventies. While set in the US, the movie is a local production. Tilda Cobham-Hervey is sensational in the lead role.

Helen Reddy passed away on Tuesday, 29th September in Los Angeles from Dementia.

Editors Humour.

A fireman was working on the engine outside the station when he noticed a little boy in a little red wagon with little ladders hanging off the side and a garden hose tightly coiled in the middle. The boy was wearing a fireman's helmet and the wagon was being pulled by a dog and a cat. The fireman walked over to take a closer look. 'That sure is a nice fire truck', said the fireman. 'Thanks', the little boy replied. The fireman looked a bit closer and noticed that the boy had tied the wagon to the dog's collar and the cat's testicles. 'Little partner' said the fireman, ' I don't want to tell you how to run your rig, but if you were to tie that rope around the cat's collar, I think you could go faster'. The little boy thought for a moment and answered.' You're probably right, but then I wouldn't have a siren" !!!!!
