Wow, we certainly have had a couple of very busy weeks, thanks to the fantastic support from our members, current, past and Honorary, and also friends and family members, who assisted with the Timaru Christmas Parade and raised funds at the Rose Festival Market Day, with our Hot Dog Van in action.
Last weekend Lance Wensley, Russell Findlay, Stephen Don, Gilly Oppenheim, Robyn Peterson Lionel Wilson and I weeded around some of the “Centennial Trees” along the Pleasant Point Highway, this is an ongoing process.
Some of our members also enjoyed another “Beer and food tasting” evening at Gary Rushworths’, with a South American theme.
Our Xmas dinner was held at Austin92 restaurant in Temuka, with visiting Rotarians Scott Ackroyd from Temuka/Geraldine club, and Gavin Green and his wife Lyn, from Howick Rotary club joining us, along with current, Honorary, past members, and friends. It was a lovely end to our 2024 Rotary Calendar year, and I had the privilege and honour of presenting Paul Harris Fellow+1 Sapphire pins to Bev Slooten, Julie Dockrill and Jess Wooffindin and a +2 sapphire to Tony Henderson, who are all very deserving of the recognition for the amazing work they do for our club and community. Congratulations and “thanks” to you all.
This weekend will see our Hot Dog Van in action on Saturday and Sunday at the re-opening of the Aigantighe Art Gallery Homestead. Also, on Saturday evening at the McCain Christmas Concert at the Bay, thanks to Lionel Wilson, Andrea Lord, Gilly Oppenheim, Jenny & Basil Ensor, Bruce Borrell, Gary Rushworth, Bev Slooten, myself and Jess Wooffindin and Greg & Melissa Sugrue who will be working hard, then the following week Lionel, Jim Garden and myself will cook McCains product for their staff end of year function. THANKS everyone.
Our first formal meeting for 2025 will be Tuesday 11th February, but a 'Return to Rotary BBQ' will be held at Jenny & Basil Ensor’s home, Tuesday 28th January.
Best Wishes to you all, for safe travel and happy holidays.
Catch up again soon,
