Thought for the week
Wisely, and slow. They stumble that run fast. - William Shakespeare
THANK YOU KING STREET MOTORS
Thanks to King Street Motors for carrying out a Warrant of Fitness inspection of the Hot Dog Caravan at no cost to the Club, and then carrying out some maintenance work, again at no cost to the Club. What great support of our efforts for the community.
Members might like to return the favour by supporting King Street Motors; you'll find them at 143 King Street.

President Hugh's Message.
Ki Ora
It was amazing to hear from Katy Houston and Tracey Miron of Multi Culture Aoraki at our meeting. Katy is the Manager and Tracey a Community Connector. Plus there is Mandy Wills as Support Manager. Established in 2004 and then called Aoraki Migrant Centre, the new name better reflecting the services provided. They offer such a huge range of support services to the various multi-cultural groups we have resident in Aoraki. Their services include linking with other community groups, cultural awareness and connecting to community services and Government agencies plus general advice. English language skills are so important. Imagine being isolated in your home and not able to pick up your phone to request support or even access the internet to check out what is available. Imagine being in your new home and not able to speak or read the language, maybe too frightened to leave the house. The centre has helped to direct parties to appropriate support in such cases.
Members are reminded to put in an apology for the meeting by noon on Monday (otherwise they are liable to be charged) - click on the following link to apologise:-
Followed by a Charitable Trust Board meeting at Lynette & Lionel's (166B North St).

When doing Host Duties (i.e. Duty Roster), please remember that you set tables, raffles etc up for the night.
Then at the end of the meeting you need to pack up again and return table numbers etc. into the box and put away.
The large sign outside door must also be packed away (this part isn't always been done).
It then falls to those leaving last.
RAFFLE PRIZES
For this Rotary year, President Hugh would like members to take turns at providing the raffle prize (no alcohol please), either by buying a prize to the value of $10 to $15 (keep the receipt and ask Treasurer Jenny for reimbursement using the claims form click here...) or maybe you have a suitable prize you'd like to donate.
To make it simple to keep track of whose turn it is, the person on Host Duty 2 will be asked to provide the raffle prize for the week.
When it's your turn to provide the prize:
Please put the prize on the Host table no later than 5:30 pm.
Make sure there's a raffle sheet (from the host bin) and a pen on the table.
If you are unable to attend Rotary, and you are unable to find someone to swap, please contact Robyn Baldwin so she can arrange cover for the night.
Notice of New Membership Application.
First Notice.
An application has been received from Natasha Hammond to become a member of our club - Natasha is a 'Local Proppy Real Estate Expert' employed at Proppy Real Estate, Timaru.
Hospital Visitors
For the 2021-22 Rotary year Margaret Perry & Ann Carnie are the 'Hospital Visitors' for the club and request that when any member hears of a current member or associate member (or their immediate family) being in hospital (or unwell at home) that they contact them and let them know.
Club Caps.
Lionel is about to order some more caps with our club name (& Rotary logo) on them for giving out on induction to new members, if anyone wishes to order one for themselves ($25.00 - $30.00 - approx) please contact him by Sunday 25th July.
McCain's Family Day
Paul, Bev. & Bruce manned the Hot Dog Caravan at McCain's Family Day last Tuesday. Approximately 320.
They cooked and handed out over 650 trays of chips, hash browns, onion rings and wedges.
It really was a great day out for families. Very well organized so from our point of view a real pleasure to give something back to McCain.
Information Required.
Remember this is "your" bulletin and so please email information to me on what your committee is doing (or planning) so everyone can be aware of it.
Lack of the above will mean the bulletin is not advising the members of what is happening in the club & particapation will be down.

Editors Humour.
A man's three-year-old son: I don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.
Father: You can be anything you want.
Son: (after a few seconds) I think I’ll be a mother.
____________
A man’s bragging about his promotion to vice president got so out of hand even his wife was annoyed.
“Look, being a vice president isn’t that special,” she said. “They even have a vice president of peas at the supermarket!”
Not believing her for one second, the man called the supermarket and demanded, “Get me the vice president of peas!”
The clerk replied, “Fresh, canned, or frozen?”
____________
A man on the phone with his 93-year-old brother in Dunedin told him he thought it was time he paid someone to shovel snow for him.
He suddenly grew indignant. “Why should I pay someone to shovel?” he demanded. “I can get my son to do it. He’s only 70!”
