President Jess's Message.

Sabhee ko namaskar (hello everyone in Hindi)

Bruce and Paul organised a tour around the new St John’s building this week before our club night (to view some photos click here...). Great to see the finished product, what a great venue it is and how quick were those roller doors!? Never have I seen a door move so quickly! It was also nice to hear that was completed by almost all local tradies and fully funded by locals! As Gordan said “ well done Timaru”. Thanks to Gordan Handy for showing us around the venue.

Host Duties.

When doing Host Duties (i.e. Duty Roster), please remember that you set tables, raffles etc up for the night.
Then at the end of the meeting you need to pack up again and return table numbers etc. into the box and put away.
The large sign outside door must also be packed away (this part isn't always been done).
It then falls to those leaving last.

RAFFLE PRIZES

For this Rotary year, President Jess would like members to take turns at providing the raffle prize (no alcohol please), either by buying a prize to the value of $10 to $15 (keep the receipt and ask Treasurer Jenny for reimbursement using the claims form click here...) or maybe you have a suitable prize you'd like to donate.

To make it simple to keep track of whose turn it is, the person on Host Duty 2 will be asked to provide the raffle prize for the week.

When it's your turn to provide the prize:
  • Please put the prize on the Host table no later than 5:30 pm.
  • Make sure there's a raffle sheet (from the host bin) and a pen on the table.
  • If you are unable to attend Rotary, and you are unable to find someone to swap, please contact Robyn Baldwin so she can arrange cover for the night.

Shelter Box Quiz Night 6th May.

Get out your diaries and block off the evening of the 6th of May (Thursday) starting at 7:00 pm, I will be organising a quiz night at Bay Hill Brewery Bar (Monteith’s) to raise money for Shelter Box.
If you had any contacts who I might be able to convince into donating some prizes or if there is a business that would be in a position to sponsor some vouchers or gifts etc, please let me know 😊 and of course start thinking of who you want on your team 😉.
Jess

For more information (and a reservation form) click here...

Information Required.

Remember this is "your" bulletin and so please email information to me on what your committee is doing (or planning) so everyone can be aware of it.
Lack of the above will mean the bulletin is not advising the members of what is happening in the club & particapation will be down.

Editors Humour.

I tried having my late mother’s phone disconnected, but the customer service rep told me that since the account was in my dad’s name, he’d have to be the one to put in the request. The fact that he’d been dead for 40 years didn’t sway her. Then a solution hit me: “If I stop paying the bill, you can turn off the service, right?”
“Well, yes,” she said reluctantly. “But that would ruin his credit.”
____________

One of the year 5 pupils were wearing a Fitbit watch, which prompted the teacher to ask, “Are you tracking your steps?”
“No,” said the little girl. “I wear this for Mommy so she can show Daddy when he gets home.”
