Thought for the week
I don’t think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains. - Anne Frank
THANK YOU KING STREET MOTORS
Thanks to King Street Motors for carrying out a Warrant of Fitness inspection of the Hot Dog Caravan at no cost to the Club, and then carrying out some maintenance work, again at no cost to the Club. What great support of our efforts for the community.

President Jess's Message.
Hallo alle sammen (Norwegian for hello everyone)
Saturday 24th was World Polio Day. Rotary Clubs all over the world have been hosting events and it’s been great to see all the red out there supporting this fantastic initiative. Our Club fundraiser is the film 'I Am Woman' – The story of Helen Reedy and it’s screening 24th November so please get in touch with Lionel to book your seats, let’s fill up the theatre!
Lionel gave us a great Polio Presentation on Tuesday, including a video that showed the dedication of Rotarians and volunteers around the world getting into these remote locations to ensure the local children get the Polio vaccine. Just 79 case reported in Afghanistan and 53 in Pakistan this year and that’s it!
Such an amazing achievement considering the epidemics of the early 1900s.

Followed by a Directors Meeting for the Board at Lynette & Lionel's home (166B North St).

When doing Host Duties (i.e. Duty Roster), please remember that you set tables, raffles etc up for the night.
Then at the end of the meeting you need to pack up again and return table numbers etc. into the box and put away.
The large sign outside door must also be packed away (this part isn't always been done).
It then falls to those leaving last.
RAFFLE PRIZES
For this Rotary year, President Jess would like members to take turns at providing the raffle prize (no alcohol please), either by buying a prize to the value of $10 to $15 (keep the receipt and ask Treasurer Jenny for reimbursement using the claims form click here...) or maybe you have a suitable prize you'd like to donate.
To make it simple to keep track of whose turn it is, the person on Host Duty 2 will be asked to provide the raffle prize for the week.
When it's your turn to provide the prize:
Please put the prize on the Host table no later than 5:30 pm.
Make sure there's a raffle sheet (from the host bin) and a pen on the table.
If you are unable to attend Rotary, and you are unable to find someone to swap, please contact Robyn Baldwin so she can arrange cover for the night.
Not Received The Bulletin??
For some unexplainable reason members computers seem to decide to place the weekly bulletin in the 'Junk' ('Spam') folder of their emails from time to time - so if you do not receive the bulletin any week please check this folder (and I can almost guarantee 99% of the time you will find it there).
Each week after sending the bulletins out I check the 'Send History' in Clubrunner to verify any that get 'dropped' (not sent) and check the reason why (of the 79 odd bulletins that are sent out only between 0 & 2 are dropped).

Information Required.
Remember this is "your" bulletin and so please email information to me on what your committee is doing (or planning) so everyone can be aware of it.
Lack of the above will mean the bulletin is not advising the members of what is happening in the club & particapation will be down.

This year’s movie is I Am Woman. It’s the story of Australian singer/songwriter, Helen Reddy, who shot to global stardom in the seventies. While set in the US, the movie is a local production. Tilda Cobham-Hervey is sensational in the lead role.

Editors Humour.
Did you know…?
In the olden days, baths consisted of a big tub filled with hot water. The man of the house had the privilege of the nice clean water. Then all the other sons and men, followed by the women and finally the children. By then the water was so dirty you could actually lose someone in it, hence the saying,” Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater!”
__________
The copper pulled up next to the guy unloading garbage from his ute into the ditch.
He asked,
“Why are you dumping garbage in the ditch. Don’t you see the sign right over your head?”
“Yep!” he replied. “That’s why I’m dumping it here, ‘cos it says,
‘Fine for Dumping Garbage’.
