Thought for the week
Get busy living, or get busy dying - Stephen King.
THANK YOU KING STREET MOTORS
Thanks to King Street Motors for carrying out a Warrant of Fitness inspection of the Hot Dog Caravan at no cost to the Club, and then carrying out some maintenance work, again at no cost to the Club. What great support of our efforts for the community.
Members might like to return the favour by supporting King Street Motors; you'll find them at 143 King Street.

President Jess's Message.
Olá pessoal (Brazilian Portuguese)
So sad to hear of the huge death toll from COVID in Brazil currently ☹
We had a great weekend last weekend in the HDV at the Winchester Swap meet, record takings – perhaps the year off the bargain hunting made them more hungry! Thank you to the team of workers who worked very hard during the day and also the supplies team for organising the van. Good luck to the team of workers for our final time at the Fairlie Show on Easter Monday.
We are still requiring some help for the St John’s collection on April 9th at New World, we currently on have 2 volunteers ☹ and I do recall it being asked during a meeting if we were going to support this OR not, and many hands went up in support. So now is the time to step up 😊 It doesn’t require much physical effort, although the job of getting out of the chair after you have been sitting can be hard at times, the task merely requires the ability to wear a Rotary vest with a smile on your dial 😊 We are not asking for you to be a pitchman or hawker, we are going for the non-confrontational approach! If you are free for an hour or 2 during the day, please advise Lynette so she can put your name down. The spot at New World is to be running 9 am-6 pm.
If you are not receiving the RDU magazine or The Rotarian mag please let me know as you should be getting it, hard copy or digital.
The closing thought of the week: a quote from Audrey Hepburn: “Nothing is impossible. The word itself says ‘I’m possible'”
Have a great weekend and Happy Easter!
Jess

When doing Host Duties (i.e. Duty Roster), please remember that you set tables, raffles etc up for the night.
Then at the end of the meeting you need to pack up again and return table numbers etc. into the box and put away.
The large sign outside door must also be packed away (this part isn't always been done).
It then falls to those leaving last.
RAFFLE PRIZES
For this Rotary year, President Jess would like members to take turns at providing the raffle prize (no alcohol please), either by buying a prize to the value of $10 to $15 (keep the receipt and ask Treasurer Jenny for reimbursement using the claims form click here...) or maybe you have a suitable prize you'd like to donate.
To make it simple to keep track of whose turn it is, the person on Host Duty 2 will be asked to provide the raffle prize for the week.
When it's your turn to provide the prize:
Please put the prize on the Host table no later than 5:30 pm.
Make sure there's a raffle sheet (from the host bin) and a pen on the table.
If you are unable to attend Rotary, and you are unable to find someone to swap, please contact Robyn Baldwin so she can arrange cover for the night.

Pumpkins For Polio.
'Pumpkins for Polio' is what I hope will be a fun way for our members to raise funds and awareness of our continued fight to eradicate Polio.
Attached you will find posters and information sheets to help sell this to your clubs, you are welcome to have others (non-members) take part if it might help get them involved in Rotary and supporting this cause, provided they can raise the funds to support their pumpkin.
Remember this is "your" bulletin and so please email information to me on what your committee is doing (or planning) so everyone can be aware of it.
Lack of the above will mean the bulletin is not advising the members of what is happening in the club & particapation will be down.

Drinking and Driving?
As you well know, some of us have been lucky not to have had brushes with the authorities on our way home from the various social sessions over the years. A couple of nights ago, I was out for a few drinks with some friends and had a few too many beers and then topped it off with a margarita. Not a good idea. Knowing full well I was at least slightly over the limit, I did something I've never done before: I took a taxi home. Sure enough, I passed a police roadblock but because it was a taxi, they waved it past. I arrived home safely without incident, which was a real surprise.
I have never driven a taxi before and am not sure where I got it.
