Club Night
Many thanks to all the committee chairs for their presentations.
In addition we had an interesting proposal from Paul Dewsbery which is included later in this bulletin.
Erwin van der Linde was a visiting Rotarian from the island of Texel in the Netherlands
Fred Hollows Foundation
$5000 has been forwarded to "Enable the Foundation to provide 200 cataract operations in the Pacific Islands to eliminate avoidable blindness". It was agreed by the Board to link this to the Bill McKay Bequest.
Dictionaries in Schools Project
Together with a $4000 District Grant and $1000 each from the Timaru, Waimate, Temuka/Geraldine and Timaru North Rotary Clubs, approximately 800 books have been purchased for distribution next year.
Phambi Rai -Nepal Teacher
Phambi's annual salary of $4,400 has been forwarded to her and is made up as follows
$2000 District Grant.

Hot Dog Van
King Street Motors Timaru Ltd have once again issued a Warrant of Fitness for the Hot Dog Van at no charge.Their company name will be listed on the van along with other supporters names and a letter of thanks will be sent.

Proposal to Establish a Centennial Fund
Purpose:
Fund a gift to the community we have served and who have supported this club over the past 100 years.
Type of Gift
Maybe permanent sculpture
Scholarship of some kind
Value of Fund Target
Depends on the project
How would the fund be achieved
The Club could set aside $5,000 per year
A further $5,000 could be raised with a special fundraising event each year
With compounding interest over $100,000 would be available for a worthwhile gift.
$100,000 equates to $1,000 for each year our club has served the community.
