Last Bulletin Sheryl and Deanna just suggested that a guided tour would be the appropriate solution to their commitee's task.
Frederick and Steven looked at each other in slight bewilderment and then the penny dropped. “So, we need at least four guides?” Steven queried.
“One per ten people I guess,” Frederick answered, “With the support of their partner if they deem they require it.”
“So, forty lucky people will be going on a all expenses paid tour?” Sheryl asked.
“We have not got the funds for that,” Steven answered, “plus no matter how we dress this up, it is not going to tick off the criteria of the Trust Fund anyway, it is not there to take Trentsworthians on holiday guided or not. No, we must come up with a self-financing project.”
“What about sponsored travel?” Deanna suggested.
“Sponsored?” Steven asked in confirmation, “Do you think we can get people to sponsor a person’s holiday that benefits them in no way?”
“How about”, Sheryl suggested, “we sell tickets at just over twice the price (i.e. two people and a fifth of a guide to cover partners) and call it Tour Plus One.”
“I think you’re on to something there,” Steven commented, “I’ll pay for Geogina and I, we can afford it, so that’ll be extra money for you three and any other guides we may need, after all why have an upper limit?”
“I’m not going to be outdone by you Steven,” Deanna rebutted, “Kevin and I will also pay for ourselves.”
Frederick and Sheryl looked at each other with panic on their faces.
“No one expects you two to front up,” Deanna immediately stated seeing their faces, “We’re getting it cheaper not having to pay for a plus one, besides if this is popular there will be other guides from the West Side as well.”
“Yes,” Steven confirmed, “Deanna and I have the discretionary funds for this so there is no reason for us to make the ticket price more expensive than it needs to be. What the project saves on our costs can go toward any vague administrational costs so we can keep the ticket price at 2 point 2 times the cost. I mean if the Terrors hadn’t destroyed Kwizearch’s project, we’d be asking them to foot the entire bill, and they’d probably pay it. I mean even with the poor state of affairs of their leaving, they did agree to fund the conversion of the research lab into the first Trentsworth Highschool.”
“So,” Sheryl concluded, “We take this back to the club and, if approved, we have another meeting on the actual countries and travel means, then a meeting on costs, and then release it to the valley.”
“Agreed,” Frederck noted.
The four stood up and Stanley led them to the front door under the mezzanine level on the East side of the building. The three exited the house and walked up the path, behind them the grey stone wall was bathed in the stark white light of the LED streetlights also highlighting the two curved towers either side of Steven’s house. As they passed the sign stating the house’s name of “Springfield Towers.” Deanna made her farewells and headed left away from the other two who continued across the street towards a small platform alongside a railway track.
