Thought for the week
First, they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win. - Mahatma Gandhi
THANK YOU KING STREET MOTORS
Thanks to King Street Motors for carrying out a Warrant of Fitness inspection of the Hot Dog Caravan at no cost to the Club, and then carrying out some maintenance work, again at no cost to the Club. What great support of our efforts for the community.
Members might like to return the favour by supporting King Street Motors; you'll find them at 143 King Street.
(If you have any comments or questions, please contact the editor)
President Bev's Message.
Hello,
I am so pleased to have the sunshine all day. The magpies are busy nest building, the days are drawing out and next week it is August. Hopefully more and more sunshine.
We have two hands, one to help ourselves the second to help others.
This motto is very appropriate for the establishment of the Marchwiel Hub as an extension of the existing Best Start Early Childhood centre and Community Gardens.
The centre will have a lounge area suitable for a community meeting and a private room for a one-on-one meeting, a kitchenette and shower/bathroom facilities.
This small group of people have already garnered the support of the DHB, Wave, Plunket, YMCA, Budget Advice and Advocacy Services to bring their expertise and services to the community.
Many in this community cannot afford the transport costs to and from town.
I was so pleased to see the help being offered by our members to make this very urgent project get off the ground. Thank you.
Natasha & Sue from the 'Marchwiel Hub' speaking to us last Tuesday evening.
Some of the food members donated to the 'Marchwiel Hub Food Bank'.
Next week we have a local photography icon, Geoff Cloake, talking about 'At the end of the road'. I am looking forward to hearing Geoff's talk. It is a partners night.

Membership.
At the 'Membership & Social Committee' meeting it was highlighted that (in an attempt to introduce potential members to Rotary) all members should be looking at upcoming speakers to see if any of them would be of interest to someone they know (and if so) invite them along to hear that speaker.
