President Andrea's Message
Tuesday night's meeting once again confirmed how generous Rotarians are sharing both their practical help and their skills and knowledge.
Jess thank you to your very entertaining job talk. We now know a lot more than we used to on personal placement and drugs.
Diane Nutsford asked for the opportunity to thank the many members who helped her to turn an old disused building into a very useful Community Asset. Which is now self-funding its existence. (This in part to a Rotarian passing on useful knowledge).
The Hotdog Caravan Team Of Jenny, Jess, Shaun and Paul have done a tremendous amount of work to up skill us all on the new regulations we are to work with. Thank you to your hard work.
As they said its not changing much of how we work, its basically recording the good work we already do. Easy Peasy. Just a bit of homework with a "learning on the job" day and we will all be signed up officially.

2018/19 RYE Student
Our RYE Student Olivia Pehrsdotter is from Brunflo, Sweden.
Jess collected her from the Christchurch Airport on Friday 20th July.
Still looking for 1 more family to host Olivia. We would be needing a family for about the start of February 2019. Host time is 12-14weeks approx.

Plunket "Books For Babies" Letter Of Thanks.
We have received the following Letter from Plunket thanking the club (& especially Jim Garden) for the books we give them to give out as "Books For Babies."
On behalf of the Plunket staff I would like to thank Rotary for their continued donation of Touch & Feel books which we distribute to new parents in the South Canterbury area.
This gift enables the Plunket Nurses to promote the benefits of books for babies and how they enhance children's brain development in this very technological age.
Plunket staff also report this lovely gift assists in breaking down boundaries at the first contact.
Many thanks for your continuing support and a special thank you to Jim Garden for delivering the books and support, very much appreciated.

Pink Ribbon Appeal.
We have received the following email from Eria (of the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation)
I am contacting you requesting the voluntary help of your group for the Pink Ribbon Street Appeal on Friday 12th and/or Saturday 13th October 2018.
We rely on the voluntary help of groups like yours to make up almost a quarter of the 10,000 volunteers we need to run this appeal every year.
If your group would like to help we can assign your group to an allocated site to collect and you will be provided with all the buckets, ribbons, sashes etc. that you will need in order for the collection to happen. Whether your members can help us by volunteering at a site for one or both days, or whether individual members can volunteer for a few hours, we would welcome your support. We would love to be able to reassign your group to the site that you looked after in the past.
The challenge is still enormous and we would be grateful for your help to enable our work – through life saving early detection campaigns, research into better treatments and support for New Zealanders with the disease. It’s only through the involvement of amazing community groups like yours that we are able to support and educate others and we would be honoured if you would support Breast Cancer Foundation NZ this year.

Club Development Seminar
OUR GOAL IS TO HAVE EVERY CLUB'S PRESIDENT, PRESIDENT ELECT AND NOMINEE plus the person responsible for CLUB MEMBERSHIP and DEVELOPMENT as a minimum.
We are bringing MARK HUDDELSTONE the author of "CREATURES of HABIT" (a book about the membership issues facing Rotary Club's) from the Rotary Club of Seaford, in Adelaide. He is very much worth listening to!
