President Jess's Message.

Hej alla (hello everyone in Swedish)

Wow, it’s hard to believe it’s the end of the year already!! I’m looking forward to Christmas this year, although I am feeling incredibly fortunate that we CAN get together and do what we like for Christmas when my friends and family across the world will be confined to tiny gatherings as they are in lockdown still.

We had a lovely Christmas dinner at the Landing Services Centre on Tuesday night and it was nice to see so many spouses along (something they should do more often!)

On Saturday we had a good turnout for wood cutting with 52 boxes of kindling being cut ready for delivery next year.
Thank you to all those who attended and to those who have helped during the working bee's this year.

Jess’s Christmas Poem

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year,
A chance to reflect and also spread cheer.
Some of us can spend time with family and friends,
We often remember loved ones, whose life did end.

Now that I’m halfway through my year
It’s time for reflection on my big job here.
Our Club has had things that have kept us busy
But I also think we can be a lot more ‘whizzy’.

So c’mon all you Rotary elves,
Search deep within yourselves.
We are members of a global service organisation,
Not a weekly dinner meeting corporation!

Don’t leave the work to the same old lot,
Pick a project and give it a good shot.
Our community is in need of a helping hand,
And we can do it together, to grow and expand.

Of the things we think, say or do,
A Christmas plea from me to you.
Our motto is “Service Above Self”
But does everyone have a full shelf?

I want to say thank you to all of our members,
You’re all so supportive - I’ve made it to December!
6 months have passed and just 6 more to go,
I’ll sign off now with a HO HO HO!

Host Duties.

When doing Host Duties (i.e. Duty Roster), please remember that you set tables, raffles etc up for the night.
Then at the end of the meeting you need to pack up again and return table numbers etc. into the box and put away.
The large sign outside door must also be packed away (this part isn't always been done).
It then falls to those leaving last.

RAFFLE PRIZES

For this Rotary year, President Jess would like members to take turns at providing the raffle prize (no alcohol please), either by buying a prize to the value of $10 to $15 (keep the receipt and ask Treasurer Jenny for reimbursement using the claims form click here...) or maybe you have a suitable prize you'd like to donate.

To make it simple to keep track of whose turn it is, the person on Host Duty 2 will be asked to provide the raffle prize for the week.

When it's your turn to provide the prize:
  • Please put the prize on the Host table no later than 5:30 pm.
  • Make sure there's a raffle sheet (from the host bin) and a pen on the table.
  • If you are unable to attend Rotary, and you are unable to find someone to swap, please contact Robyn Baldwin so she can arrange cover for the night.

Not Received The Bulletin??

For some unexplainable reason members computers seem to decide to place the weekly bulletin in the 'Junk' ('Spam') folder of their emails from time to time - so if you do not receive the bulletin any week please check this folder (and I can almost guarantee 99% of the time you will find it there).
Each week after sending the bulletins out I check the 'Send History' in Clubrunner to verify any that get 'dropped' (not sent) and check the reason why (of the 79 odd bulletins that are sent out only between 0 & 2 are dropped).
Stephen (Editor).

Information Required.

Remember this is "your" bulletin and so please email information to me on what your committee is doing (or planning) so everyone can be aware of it.
Lack of the above will mean the bulletin is not advising the members of what is happening in the club & particapation will be down.
Stephen

Email Update From Dave Woods.

Jess recently received the following email update from Dave (along with photos).

Quick update for the club.  Settling in well so far.  Been very busy meeting staff and farmers.  So far so good and very excited about the hop business.   Here are a couple of pics and my best wishes and seasons greetings to everyone.
Cheers Dave.
