Thought for the week

It is good to have a destination to journey towards but it is the journey that matters in the end.

THANK YOU KING STREET MOTORS

Thanks to King Street Motors for carrying out a Warrant of Fitness inspection of the Hot Dog Caravan at no cost to the Club, and then carrying out some maintenance work, again at no cost to the Club.  What great support of our efforts for the community.

Members might like to return the favour by supporting King Street Motors; you'll find them at 143 King Street.

Thank You

President Andrea's Message.

Who knew Blue light was such a diverse organisation of Police Volunteers.  From Blue light Discos to life-changing challengers for teens. I was very impressed to hear the boys talk about how they had not only got fit but also on who they have made new friends, found teamwork to be both enjoyable and have great value to themselves. To help others achieve massive goals has been one of the life skills they will carry with them for life.

To listen to the pride in the Mothers voice of her son's achievements was almost a tear-inducing moment. This boy has lost his father and was starting to go down the wrong path. He has turned this all around and is now back working towards being a valuable member of society, with the love and pride of his family to both encourage and support him. Now that is a result we can all be proud of.
The work and enjoyment the Police get out of this course must be satisfying. To see young men come from a path where they would meet him on a regular basis to where he is headed is a result they can carry with amazing pride.
To hear Bev talk about seeing them reach their goal and the way the boys were at the end. Filled with all that intrinsic happiness of an amazing achievement was wonderful.
This is one of the many great projects I hope we continue to support.

This makes being a Rotarian well worthwhile.
Let us carry on the good work.
To change one life will ultimately change many more. Time will show us the investment was well worth every hotdog sold.

Enjoy your weekend

Notice of New NRG Membership Application.

An application has been received by NRG from Kirsten Judd (an 'Engineering Projects Manager' at Fonterra Clandeboye) to become a member of their club (which also would make them a member of our club). Any member who wishes to comment is invited to speak to Andrea or Bev.

Special Guest Speaker 4th June.

We have arranged a guest speaker for the evening from Dunedin -  fellow Rotarian, David Black.  David will talk about his involvement with Rotary Action Group Against Slavery and origins of Project Starfish, a project he founded to support the Rescue Mission for Children in Northern Thailand.

David’s recent presentation at our District 9980 Conference has inspired one of our Club/NRG members,  Jess Hewitson to take up his offer of joining the Project Starfish Team which will head over to Thailand and Cambodia in December this year.

If you have a guest who would like to come along simply click HERE and enter in "Absence NRG & Guest Notifications".
