THANK YOU KING STREET MOTORS
Thanks to King Street Motors for carrying out a Warrant of Fitness inspection of the Hot Dog Caravan at no cost to the Club, and then carrying out some maintenance work, again at no cost to the Club. What great support of our efforts for the community.
Members might like to return the favour by supporting King Street Motors; you'll find them at 143 King Street.

President Jess's Message.
Dobry Dzień (hello in Belarusian)
This week we were lucky to have Christine Prince along, she’s the CEO of the 'Canterbury and West Coast Air Rescue Trust', and she spoke about the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Flying Doctors Trust. It was a fascinating chat, and she shared some amazing rescue stories.
To see all the different training the medics go through was astounding, as the helicopters essentially go anywhere to rescue people! There are 9 choppers in the South Island who are all kept very busy, most choppers will have 2 medics at least on board for a mission.
It only takes 40mins to get from Timaru to Christchurch in the chopper. On average it costs $5000 per trip, and the Trust needs to raise $6 million per annum to support the service.
Christine is also a fellow Rotarian, a member of the Christchurch Club.

When doing Host Duties (i.e. Duty Roster), please remember that you set tables, raffles etc up for the night.
Then at the end of the meeting you need to pack up again and return table numbers etc. into the box and put away.
The large sign outside door must also be packed away (this part isn't always been done).
It then falls to those leaving last.
RAFFLE PRIZES
For this Rotary year, President Jess would like members to take turns at providing the raffle prize (no alcohol please), either by buying a prize to the value of $10 to $15 (keep the receipt and ask Treasurer Jenny for reimbursement using the claims form click here...) or maybe you have a suitable prize you'd like to donate.
To make it simple to keep track of whose turn it is, the person on Host Duty 2 will be asked to provide the raffle prize for the week.
When it's your turn to provide the prize:
Please put the prize on the Host table no later than 5:30 pm.
Make sure there's a raffle sheet (from the host bin) and a pen on the table.
If you are unable to attend Rotary, and you are unable to find someone to swap, please contact Robyn Baldwin so she can arrange cover for the night.

Editors Humour.
After a health scare, I hugged my wife and whispered, “If something happens to me, the presents in my closet are yours.”
She whispered back, “If anything happens to you, everything in your closet is mine.”

The boatswain's mate was a smoker who would toss his matches overboard. Then one day, he surprised everyone when he popped a cigarette in his mouth and produced an expensive lighter from his pocket. With great fanfare, he flipped open the top, flicked the spark wheel, lit his cigarette ... then chucked the lighter overboard.

Two dog owners are arguing about whose pet is smarter. “My dog is so smart,” says the first owner, “that every morning he goes to the store and buys me a sesame seed bagel with chive cream cheese, stops off at Starbucks and picks me up a mocha latte, and then comes home and turns on ESPN, all before I get out of bed.”
“I know,” says the second owner.
“How do you know?” the first demands.
“My dog told me.”
