 President Lionel’s Bulletin Blurb 
 
This is my last “Blurb” for the Bulletin for 2025!
December is here and Christmas day is just two weeks away!
 
 
  • Hot Dog Caravan events:
    • We have the two events that are linked to the Rose Festival
      • The first on Saturday evening (Tonight! The 6th).
      • The second all day Sunday on the Bay (Tomorrow the 7th). 
    • Thanks to everyone who is doing a shift or involved in making this fundraiser a success!
    • Starting 2026 with the HDV – have a look at the rosters already up for 2026, thanks Jess!
  • Santa Christmas Parade:
    • This is happening on the weekend that this Bulletin gets posted (i.e. tomorrow the 7th of December).
    • We hope for fine weather and happy crowds in the main street of Timaru.
    • Once again, a BIG Thanks to everyone who is involved!
    • It certainly will be a big weekend for members!
  • Membership:
    • We have received a Membership application from Ari Jan a refugee settlement case worker.
      • The Membership committee and the club Board are happy to submit Ari to members as a new member of our club, this is the first of two notifications to members.
  • Christmas Dinner:
    • At Austin 92 on 9th December from 6pm
    • Get ready with your menu wishes for this coming Tuesday (the 9th)!!
  • Miniature “Wishing Wells” as Donation Boxes:
    • Thanks to John Rushton and his family for creating these miniature wishing wells, complete with Rotary Blue colour.
    • They will be placed in business’s in and around the top of the bay.
    • Fantastic work John!!
  • Ben Dalloway video via the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce:
    • ​​​​​​​A huge thank you to Ben who has followed the club with our projects and a dinner Meeting as well over the last few months with his video camera and drone.
    • Ben has been to “Illuminate”, “the Coastal Challenge”, the wood “Kindling” morning and the Hot Dog Van at Fraser Park.
    • To pull this information together Ben interviewed Lynette and I a few weeks ago
    • And now the SC Chamber of Commerce have put up on their website a short (about 10 minutes) and a longer link (about 45 minutes) about our Rotary club, its able to be viewed on the Chamber Facebook page, go and take a look!
  • Return to Rotary BBQ:
    • ​​​​​​​This event will be held on Tuesday 3rd February 2026
      • At Jenny and Basil Ensor’s home on Pages Road
      • Starting in the early evening!
    • Our first actual dinner meeting is scheduled at the T & C for Tuesday 10th February
      • Dinner at 6pm
      • With a Club Board meeting at 4.30pm also at the T & C.
