Thought for the week

The past doesn't have to restrict your present.

 President Andrea's Message .

What a meeting. Always a happy day when you induct a new member.
Welcome Cheryl Rose to our club. I'm sure you will enjoy working with our merry band of volunteers.

Also how great is it to give money to help children.
To know that Junior Rugby in South Canterbury will benefit from us selling hotdogs and chips is a great feeling. All those who have helped with the Hotdog Caravan can be proud of the hard work you have done.

As I head away on my adventure (which is way out of my comfort zone, no) I am reminded of when I was approached to be a Director on the board. The challenges ahead were huge almost unachievable. The support and encouragement from the club made the journey achievable. Now I am learning so much about both myself and Rotary,
I'm beginning to enjoy the remaining few months.

So with this in mind I again repeat John's words, from a fellow Rotarian.
"I WILL DO IT, IF I CAN".
If asked to take up a role, take up the challenge and enjoy the support and encouragement given so freely from all members of our club.
Have fun.
I think I'm going to.
See you all in two weeks.

How about, when Bev asks you to take on a task for the next Rotary year, you say “Yes, of course” unless you have a very good reason not to.

We asked Bev to take this important job on for the Club – for us. It’s a big ask, and Bev said “Yes”.

Now Bev is asking us to take on Club tasks during her Rotary Year. You’d be surprised how many people say “No”, or “Let me think about it”.

We all have a part to play in keeping the club ticking over nicely. If Bev asks us to do our bit it would be great if we said “Yes, of course” unless we really couldn’t do it.

Gleniti School Tunnel (Green) House.

Cheryl Rose and Jim Garden last Thursday evening assisted with the erecting of the Tunnel house at Gleniti school.
Below is an email sent to Peter of appreciation (and some photos):

Hi Peter
Thursday nights build went very well. Sheryl and Jim were fantastic! And we had a good team of dads pitching in also.
I’m attaching a few photos for you. There are more on our school Facebook page if you search for Gleniti School on Facebook. I’m doing a little note in our school newsletter also. Also, I’ve sent a letter to your house thanking the Rotary club.
Thanks very much for your involvement Peter. We look forward to planting some things now!
Kind regards
Sarah Spittal

Claremont Castle Garden Party.

Jess would like to thank everyone who assisted at the "Claremont Castle Garden Party" on Saturday 9th February and advises she received the following email:-

I personally wish to thank each and everyone of the volunteers on the day. I was unable to get to the gate to express my thanks.
It could not have come about without you and the fine folks who came to assist - it simply couldn't!
I don't know quite how to to express my deepest gratitude - please pass my thanks to each and everyone.
Kind regards
Rob
