 President Lynette's Message

Hi everyone,

With no official meeting last Tuesday, it was nice to catch up over dinner with some members who still enjoy their weekly routine.

Wednesday night several of us supported the Altrusa fundraiser and attended their “night at the movies” I really enjoyed, and would thoroughly recommend, “The Great Escaper” if you have the opportunity to view it.

A reminder to send your ideas to Mike Parr following our last meeting.

You will have received an email from Greg Sugrue calling for your assistance to fill the rosters for the “Illuminate” and “Colourfest” events, the Hot Dog Van will also be in action at the Swapmeet on 6th April, so there is something for everyone – from sedentary to active roles, and we would appreciate your assistance - maybe even some family or friends could also join us.

The very successful “Illuminate” light show in the Botanical Gardens is scheduled for 26, 27, 28th April, & 3, 4, 5th May this year, so please pencil the dates in your diary and let Greg know when you will be able to give some time (even if it is only an hour or two).

Check out http://www.illuminateshow.co.nz/   to give you an idea of what the event is about if you haven't read about it already.

The same Event Team are also doing a one-off “Colourfest” on April 6th, which should be fun, so like above, when further information is received, we will organize further. Please contact Greg Sugrue if you require any further information in the meantime.

Jess Hewitson & Julie Dockrill have returned home safely from Nepal following their very successful project (albeit reeling with so many emotions and wonderful memories and adjusting back to working life). They will be sharing their experience with us at our meeting on the 23rd of April, which I am looking forward to.

RYDA is scheduled for 11th April – another date for the diary if you can assist – once again, notify Greg.

Saturday 13th April is our next “Kindling wood” working bee, this will be followed by a “tasting” and food with our “Brewer” Gary Rushworth - more details to come, but please pencil it in your rapidly filling diary.

Looking forward to catching up with you all again on March 26th.

Lynette

Editor (Jess) Is Now Back From Nepal.

Editors Humour

Did you hear about the guy who got hit in the head with a can of soda?
He was lucky it was a soft drink.

I wasn't originally going to get a brain transplant.
But then I changed my mind.

I can't believe I got fired from the calendar factory.
All I did was take a day off.

What's the difference between a poorly dressed man on a bicycle and a nicely dressed man on a tricycle?
A tire.

I told my mom I was going to make a bike out of spaghetti.
You should have seen her face when I rode straight pasta.
