President Bev's Message.

Greetings,

It is always a pleasure to welcome visiting Rotarians to our Club meetings.

This week we enjoyed the company of Mike Franzen and Gail Selk from Madison, Wisconsin USA., and a couple, Ross and Raewyn Wensley (Ross is a member of Invercargill Rotary).

Ross & Raewyn were here to celebrate brother and Club member Lance’s  80th birthday. Congratulations Lance.
Mike and Gail were partway through a 7-week tour of NZ and were reconnecting with fellow Rotarians they met on a Group Study Exchange many years ago. Locals John Bruce, the late Wynn Raymond and John Eddy were part of that team.

It is amazing the depth of talent that is unearthed through our Club’s sponsorship of High School pupils enabling them to attend extra educational based activities in New Zealand and overseas. Our speaker, Hannah Konings was exceptional as she described her time at the XLAB in Gottingen, Germany 2019. Hannah, who was 1 of 2 NZ students joined 28 other International students for a month of science experiments in this well-equipped laboratory. This extraordinary building is very modern – the orange level is physics, the yellow level is chemistry, the green level is biology and blue is computer and library. It was designed as an interface between High School and University for young people. English was the common language for this group read more...

District 9980 Conference & 'Days For Girls' Project.

Hello,

With only 12 weeks to go until the conference, things are really starting to come together.

I encourage members to get registered as soon as possible, keep reminding them in your club bulletin.  We have more than enough work for 250 people on the Saturday, that is going to truly make a difference to a lot of schools and community groups!

Information for the 'Days for Girls' project is available, and we hope you, your club members, friends and family, will be able to help out - to view the 'information' click here & here for the 'flyer'.

This is a fantastic project, and these kits are proven to make a great difference to girls all around the world.

See you at conference!

Kind regards,
Tania Lowery
