President Bev's Message.

Greetings,

Hannah, a 25-year-old Gloriavale leaver, and Liz Gregory, General Manager of the 'Gloriavale Leavers’ Support Trust' addressed the members and several visitors regarding life in and after Gloriavale. It was a very thorough and at times confrontational presentation with many questions afterward. We ran out of time. There are probably several members and visitors with many more questions.
Hannah left the Gloriavale School at 16 and was employed as part of a team to make the bread, light the fires and do the laundry for the 600 residents. She arrived at her work between 3-4 am daily and had a half-hour break occasionally ... Click here for Liz Gregory’s notes

Invitation To a Farewell Dinner For John & Donna Prendergast 7th March in Invercargill.

We have received an invitation to John and Donna Prendergast's farewell being held in Invercargill on Saturday 7th March. It is hoped we have a very good response from all the clubs as John has made an outstanding contribution to Rotary in this district and it would be nice to send him off in style.

Please click here to see more info for John's farewell.

Karen Purdue and myself (Dave McKissock) are organizing a Combined Rotary Clubs Farewell Dinner for John and Donna Prendergast who are leaving our district and relocating to Wellington. John is to commence his new position on 17 February 2020, however, he is returning to Invercargill on the weekend of the 7 March.

Therefore we are planning a Rotary Farewell Dinner for John and his family which will be will be held at the Ascot Park Hotel, Waiau Room on 7 March 2020 at 6.30pm.

The costs of the meal will be $38 per head (Roast with Veges & simple chefs choice dessert). Drinks at your own cost.

Anyone who wishes to attend please advise President Bev. (bevslooten@outlook.com) by Sunday 23rd February.

A Meal At Riverstone On Sunday 3rd May.

Further to my email sent out earlier this year about a Sunday lunch at Riverstone it is set to be held on Sunday 3rd May at 1:00 pm (thus giving time for those who wish to travel there earlier and have a look around the shops to do so).

Attached are the two menus the majority of members have indicated they would like View $40.00 menu... & $55.00 menu.

The castle tour (if available ) would be an extra $25 pp.

Someone from the Social Committee will be co-ordinating numbers (and meal preference) nearer to the time (as I will be away).

Cheers
 Peter

Once a year we give the Hot Dog & Chips van a thorough clean inside and out.
While it is cleaned after every event like any kitchen a more thorough spring clean is required to maintain the high standard we aim for.
Please bring:

A "Yes" For Jess.
Jess is working hard on the formation of her committees for 2020-2021.
If Jess approaches you for a role and you think it is out of your comfort zone, I urge you to think quietly on the matter and consider who, in our Club, would you go to for help/suggestions in this role. We have a wealth of knowledge in our Club and one of the nicest things is being asked to share it.

You are doing well Jess.

Thanks, Bev.

Tony Uses Rotary Ingenuity.

Tony last Wednesday morning at woodcutting had to contend with only being able to slide one of the two doors on the shed open.

Thanks to our Sponsors
