 President Lionel’s Bulletin Blurb

A Month until Christmas!!!

  • Who else has had a battle with HAIL over the middle of November weekend?
    • The Wilson’s were lucky this time, as all cars were under cover when the hail came! The clean-up of greenery was extensive on the Sunday however.
  • Our “Happy Dollar” session at this Tuesdays meeting will feature members stories if you have them?
  • The first part of our AGM, this coming Tuesday.
    • The agenda for this 1st part of our AGM will go out to all members in the week leading up to the 25th of November (you should have it before this Blurb reaches you).
    • We need 50% of active members attending the AGM (9 members or more needed for a Quorum).
  • Nepal Toilet Project:
    • We are now in receipt of the final Report from Raj on the 3 Toilet Project, along with photos. (The final report from Raj is on a link in this Bulletin).
  • Hot Dog Caravan events:
    • We have the classic Motorcycle HDV event over this weekend.
    • The Van is also in action on the 6th and 7th December as part of the “Festival of Roses” down on the bay.
  • Santa Christmas Parade:
    • Is rushing up and is scheduled for Sunday 7th December, who is still undecided what to do? contact John Rushton, he is looking to fill his Marshalling roster!!
  • “Two seaside seats”– John Rushton and Allen Forrester are working on the coastal seating as part of the Projects committee, exciting times!!
  • Toot For Tucker: Monday 17th November
    • Thanks to John Rushton for arranging our attendance with 4 cars, several “Runners” (maybe walkers is a better terminology?) and a packer or two as well.
    • A huge thanks to John Rushton, Lynette Wilson, Jenny and Basil Ensor, Robin Peterson, Tony Henderson and his Grandchildren, Waleed and two young men from the Refugee Centre.
    • Facebook accounts advise that 201 banana boxes were filled with food, a very good effort from all involved, especially the Suburban Lions club of Timaru.
  • Membership- we have received an application for membership, this will be worked on by the Membership committee.
  • Christmas Dinner at Austin 92 on 9th December from 6pm:
    • You need to put your names on Secretary Lynette’s list if you intend going.
    • Jenny Ensor will send out the new December Menu when it arrives from the Austin92 people so you can order on the evening.
    • Email  timaru.rotary.secretary@gmail.com
  • Miniature “Wishing Wells” as Donation Boxes:
    • Thanks to John Rushton and his family for creating these miniature wishing wells, complete with Rotary Blue colour, to be placed in business’s in and around the top of the bay, fantastic work John!!

    • This event will be held on Tuesday 3rd February 2026 at Jenny and Basil Ensor’s home on Pages Road, starting in the early evening!
